Jaguar Land Rover and Ford Prepare for Huge Job Cuts
Leading to thousands of job losses for the UK’s automotive sector, JLR and Ford prepare the implement cost cutting plans.
Yesterday, Jaguar Land Rover were expected to cut up to 5,000 jobs in the UK and Ford has announced to cut thousands of jobs from its workforce across the region.
The main target of Jaguar Land Rover job cuts are:
- Management.
- Marketing.
- Administrative roles.
This is an attempt to deliver £2.5bn of cost-cutting measures over 18 months amid a downturn in Chinese sales, Brexit and the decline in diesel sales. Jaguar Land Rover has announced it needs to find 4,500 redundancies. Most redundancies are going to be in the UK and this is in addition to the 1,500 job cuts last year!
Globally, Ford’s job losses will come as it bids to cut $14bn, including it’s 2 UK engine plants at Bridgend and Dagenham.
Steve Armstrong, Ford’s European President said, “This is not about making the business today more efficient but completely redesigning it”.
